Future-focused industries in emerging areas such as recycling and renewable energy often don’t have a clear planning pathway – but clients can rely on our understanding of what’s required and our ability to navigate what can be complex issues and processes.

ULAB Recycling Facility
Nexus Recycling
CLE obtained the all-important planning approval for the first used lead-acid battery recycling facility in Western Australia in 2020.
This Nexus Recycling facility enables the separation, packaging and shipping of battery components for re-use in new batteries. Given the service had previously only been available in the Eastern States, there are significant environmental and safety benefits, including a reduction in long-haul transport requirements and associated emissions.
The facility represents a critical step forward in establishing a more sustainable and locally supported circular economy within Western Australia, providing essential infrastructure to manage hazardous waste responsibly while supporting the growing demand for battery recycling and resource recovery.
